Josh Beckett- the NEW Mr. October
By rodneyknuppel • Oct 28th, 2007 • Category: Major League Baseball •
Mr. Clutch, Mr. October, Gamer, or just flat out stud. All these terms could be used for Boston’s ace Josh Beckett. Who could argue those terms? This guy has been nails for several years now. How would you like to be the Colorado Rockies and know that you are going to be taking on “Flat out stud” and Bloody sock four times in seven games? Goodluck.
Beckett, who is only 27 has accomplished about everything a pitcher in the league looks to accomplish. The 6′5, 225lbs. righthanded pitcher from Spring Texas is in his sixth professional season. Mr. Flat out stud will win the 2007 Cy Young, in the American League. His team is also two games away from winning the world series. Winning a world series would not be new to Flat out stud. In 2003, he was part of the upstart Florida Marlins, that punked the Chicago Cubs in seven games to win the National League, and then knocked off the Evil Empire to win the Marlins second world series title. In ‘03, against the Cubs, Beckett pitched a complete game 2 hit shutout, striking out 11, and then three nights later went four innings out of the bullpen to help lead the Marlins. In the World Series that year, his five hit shutout was the nail in the coffin for ole George and his band of millionaire Yankees.
This season Mr. Flat out stud, won 20 games, and lost 7. His sick ERA of 3.27 was one of the best in the league. Now you want to talk postseason from F.O.S? Four games, 30 innings, 19 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, 35 strikeouts, and FOUR wins. Let’s hope for historical purposes F.O.S. gets a chance to pitch in game five Monday in Denver, to see what what feather he will add to his cap, in just an incredible postseason run. A run that will be talked about forever. So come on, Colorado, man up and win a game at home, just so F.O.S. can shut you down again on Monday.
You want to talk about faces of the game? The top of the list MUST include F.O.S (Josh Beckett).

Too bad Mr. Stud never got another chance.
Beckett is the DOMINATOR.
