Got the South bracket breakdown for today!
1 Memphis vs. 16 TX Arlington - No brainer, Memphis rolls through this one even if they shoot 15% from the FT line. Memphis!
8 Mississippi St. vs. 9 Oregon - Mississippi St. is solid as but so is Oregon. This is a great matchup. The Ducks have been a consistent tourney team but can’t seem to win a game in it. I see them winning this year. Oregon wins by 1.
5 Michigan st. vs. 12 Temple - Temple is quickly becoming the popular 12 seed that people are picking. This is much in part to the stat that they have won their first round game a bunch of years in a row. Whoopie. That was the past. I say Neitzel and the Spartans roll.
4 Pittsburgh vs. 13 Oral Roberts - If Pitt didn’t impress you in the Big East tournament, then they never will. Heck, Bob Knight picked these guys to win the National Championship - the least I can do is pick them to win their first round. Pitt to the house.
5 Marquette vs. 11 Kentucky - Very intriguing matchup here. Marquette is solid and played in the tested Big East. Kentucky has been up and down this year. Both teams have solid guard play. I look for the upset here and Kentucky moves on.
3 Stanford vs 14 Cornell - Stanford has been rockin and rolling while Cornell has not been to the tourney since 1988. Time to go home quickly as Stanford pounds them.
7 Miami FL vs. 10 St. Mary’s - St. Mary’s is a very athletic team that can hang with nearly everyone. Miami has been playing very well as of late and I think their conference will help them in this game. Miami wins in a close one.
2 Texas vs. 15 Austin Peay - Blowout city for the Longhorns. 30+ win for Texas.
